Sound worlds in Tellerhäuser
The exhibition tells about Gerd Schlesinger's collection, about very small bells from all over the world, and about large bells with their own history.
From the first gift to the collection
Gerd Schlesinger has been collecting bells since he received his first bell as a gift at age four. Today the collection comprises around 650 pieces. About 400 of them are shown in Schwarzenberg, another part has found its place in Tellerhäuser.
From five millimeters to two tonnes
The span ranges from a bell of only five millimeters in size to an example weighing two tons. The bells on display are made of steel, brass, bronze, and cast iron, including cow bells, collectables, and retired church bells.
A Bell Tower in the Old School
The Old School offers about 60 square meters of space for the exhibition. Historical school pieces and the building’s history remain visible. A wooden bell frame from Marienberg also makes the technical side of large bells comprehensible.
