RASCHAU/KANDERSTEG 26.04.2014 – The Erzgebirge-based Peter Riedel GmbH will embark on its first project in Switzerland this year – specifically in Kandersteg, in the Bernese Oberland region. After a five-hour marathon meeting of the organizers on site, the ski jump approach in Raschau prevailed over its competitors.

In the future, the Kandersteg jumps will be equipped with the modern twin-track system, which has already proven itself in the World Cup in recent years. The recent weeks with partly spring-like weather probably tipped the scales for the modern Raschau solution. 'We have seen weather-related problems in Innsbruck, Bischofshofen, Sochi or Zakopane that cannot occur with our 7.5 cm thick ice block. Our ice track is weather-resistant, and this is especially crucial for a functioning ski facility under such weather conditions as we have recently seen,' explains Peter Riedel, head of Peter Riedel GmbH.

For Riedel, this project in the Bernese Oberland is particularly gratifying, as Kandersteg lies only a few kilometers from Adelboden. There, Riedel's father Eberhard Riedel celebrated his legendary giant slalom victory 53 years ago, and his footprints are still commemorated on the Place of Fame. 'Many memories connect me and my family with this region, and I am very glad that we have received this assignment. Here in the Bernese Oberland there are many memories, and I am all the more pleased to be able to create completely new memories now in collaboration with the operators in Kandersteg.'

While Adelboden is already an established Alpine site, Kandersteg aims to establish itself more and more as a center for Nordic skiing. The snow-sure region at an elevation of 1,180 meters takes another step toward a successful realization of this goal with the commitment of Peter Riedel GmbH.
