In Hinzenbach in Upper Austria a new ramp was built this year, where the Austrian championships for women and men will be held on October 9–10. Next year the HS-94 facility, on which jumps up to 100 meters should be possible, will make its international fire debut when the FIS Summer GP stops in Hinzenbach.
The new facility in Hinzenbach
What makes the facility special: You can also start on an ice track in summer. For the skiers, of course, a good way to get a feel for the approach on ice at temperatures above 20 degrees. Thus the Austrians at their national championships in summer temperatures will still be able to start on an ice track.

The energy consumption is surprisingly low, although Hinzenbach is not far from the Danube and it is much warmer there than in the elevations of the Alps.
A similar system is found for example in Garmisch-Partenkirchen. The big advantage is that both systems can be used in parallel or easily switched from one to the other during training. “Michi Uhrmann rode on the ice track in Partenkirchen and shortly afterward Michael Neumayer followed on ceramic,” said Peter Riedel, whose company is responsible for building the takeoff system.
Low energy consumption
“We carried out an energy documentation in Chaux-Neuve in France, where a comparable system exists, and as a result we received the contract for Hinzenbach,” he told Berkutschi.
Thus the jumpers have the opportunity to train on ice even in summer, without massively increasing ongoing costs for the hill operators.
