We are now producing sustainably!
The Peter Riedel GmbH is taking another step toward sustainability. That we as a company think very sustainably and have been acting as a flagship in this sector for years has already been proven in several projects.
The Peter Riedel GmbH is taking another step toward sustainability. That we as a company think very sustainably and have been acting as a flagship in this sector for years has already been proven in several projects.
For example our water recovery project on Bergisel, where irrigation water is collected and reused for track irrigation. The project has generated broad interest within the scene, and we are absolute pioneers in this area; no one had implemented such a thing before us and to this day.
Our winches and milling machines all carry an environmental quality seal - a sign of efficiency and environmental friendliness. Another flagship project was our 'Spur-Upcycling' in Norway, where we revitalized the old approach track from Trondheim and reinstalled it on the normal hill at Midtstubakken.
The next step our company has now taken may prompt some to think 'Nothing new, many companies are doing this now.' And in a way that’s true, yet it was a project we had to realize this way first. We are talking about our two brand-new photovoltaic systems. One installation with a total of 50 square meters shines from our production hall in Raschau, another with 30 square meters was installed on our residential building, which also houses our holiday apartment.
The two systems significantly improve the environmental balance and have many other positive effects. We are a steel-processing company and therefore have, in parts, extremely high electricity consumption. This can be partly reduced, as we use the generated electricity directly.
The same goes for the installation on our residential building. A part is consumed right away by us or the holiday apartment, which results in lower electricity consumption, a positive image, and an additional selling point for environmentally conscious guests.
Moreover, the role model function in a small town like Tellerhäuser should not be underestimated. We are the first business in town to rely on PV power. We hope this will encourage a few locals to take this step toward sustainability as well. At this point I would like to thank Smarthaus Sachsen GmbH managing director Philipp Ahrens most sincerely. His company near Dresden, almost from the state capital, did a really great job here in our mountains, everything ran smoothly and without problems.
With this rewarding investment for the future, we take another small step forward in terms of sustainability. And it will not be the last step in this area, that much is certain.
Yours, Peter Riedel
