ÖSV thinks of the Winter Olympics, Ramsau thinks of a unique selling point

RASCHAU/RAMSAU AM DACHSTEIN, December 18, 2013 – It was probably the least secret project in the skiing scene of 2013. It all began when Peter Riedel GmbH, REHAU AG and the Austrian Ski Association agreed and sealed an official partnership. Something was in the air, you knew – but what exactly?!

It is a test track laid out in Ramsau am Dachstein that makes the winter resort in Styria a 'pilgrimage site': now not only many athletes from various winter sports nations train there, but their coaches and officials also inquire what this track near the hill complex is and what purposes it serves. The peculiarity of the accusation is that it has no take-off!

Peter Riedel GmbH has installed a worldwide novelty in Austria – a test track that in a single module combines three different track types: a track-in-track system, i.e., a summer and winter track in one, and a pure summer track. “We are thus the only manufacturer worldwide that can offer a system where tests can be conducted simultaneously with different materials,” explains company owner Peter Riedel.

Recently the test track has now been completed and handed over, and Toni Giger, head of the Research and Innovation Department at ÖSV, jubilated: “Great, how quickly everything went!” And Dr. Alois Stadlober, head of the Nordic Center in Ramsau am Dachstein, is also satisfied. “This test track forms a unique selling point for Ramsau. We have the first and only facility of this kind worldwide, something that no one else has. That puts Ramsau in the spotlight, and that is nice.” The ÖSV project will not have great effects on trained athletes and overnight stays – it is intended only for Austrian athletes. “The construction of this test track here with us shows once again how well our collaboration with the Austrian Ski Association works,” emphasizes Stadlober.

The ÖSV’s joy is understandable – in less than a hundred days the Winter Olympics in Sochi begin. With regard to the seasonal peak, the test track should help find the perfect material. And when Morgenstern, Schlierenzauer and co. operate in RusSki Gorki, then, quite secretly, also Eberhard Riedel will be crossing his fingers at home in Oberwiesenthal…
