Sports Technology

From Holmenkollen to the junior hill

2 min read

There is hardly a place more closely associated with ski jumping than Holmenkollen. And there is hardly a place where Peter Riedel Sports Technology has left more “traces” so far.

Run-up Spur

With the current project at the K10 hill at Midtstubakken, a circle closes: even the last hill in the Holmenkollen vicinity, which until now had to make do without a Riedel approach track, is now receiving technology from Erzgebirge.
Thus the entire hill complex around Holmenkollen and the neighboring Midtstubakken is equipped with Riedel technology. For Peter Riedel this is far more than just another order. Norway has been an important part of the company’s history for many years and one of the closest international connections of the company.

The current order deliberately moves away from the big World Cup spectacle and toward the basics of the sport. The K10 at Midtstubakken is a small junior hill where especially young jumpers gain their first experiences and refine their technique. Precisely for this area, Riedel developed a Run-Up Spur system with the Clubtrack track, tailored to the needs of clubs and young athletes, yet containing the same DNA as the World Cup hills. The system offers year-round use, low maintenance, and does not require an elaborate cooling system. Thus, run-up quality is also available where the infrastructure of a large World Cup hill is not present.

That this small hill now also receives a Riedel track fits particularly well with the company’s philosophy. Good hill technology should not only start at the World Cup. It begins where children and adolescents learn the sport.
