This week we are at the jump center in Tschagguns in Montafon – and yes, the nature here is overwhelming, especially now in the golden autumn. But we are actually here to work. The hill has been an important training site for the next generation for many years, and to keep it that way, it is getting a technical update with a few new components just before winter from us.

First the split cover was addressed. A component that has to endure a lot in operation – daily, in every weather, without applause. Now it has been renewed to be visually, but above all safety-technically, up to date again. Subsequently we swapped the milling head and the cutters, so the groove surface is milled even cleaner: smooth, uniform and reliably reproducible – just as a ski jumper would wish.

In addition, our new development is put to use: a 3D milling head. It mills the approach track, including the longitudinal grooves, three-dimensionally – without corners, edges or surprises. This keeps the track fair, stable and above all compliant with current FIS regulations from the first to the last jumper.

Especially important: the new regulation on the minimum distance between the sidewalls and the first deep milling. A detail that you don't necessarily see on TV – but that noticeably influences the approach. We checked and calculated this point together with the operator – and implemented it cleanly in the end.

The test runs continue until the end of this week; after that, as planned, ice production can begin. The hill operator will then only supply the carpet and voila – the hill can go into winter operation on time and reliably. We have finished too and say: Pfiati usm Ländle!
