Trondheim 2025 - our biggest project to date in moving images

The probably largest project in the history of Peter Riedel GmbH is finished. In a record construction time of only 70 days, we installed two complete ramp constructions with six employees in Granasen/Trondheim. Everything that was built on the concrete foundation from steel construction originates from us, Peter Riedel GmbH, a medium-sized company from Raschau in the Ore Mountains. 

The core is our globally widely installed and hundredfold-tested Mastertrack starting lane. Complementing the ice track is a new ice milling machine with innovative 'forerunner', a 1.5t winch, a tarp-winder, a completely new cooling technology including roughing, a gate and start deck system, a new irrigation technology, and the entire safety area next to the starting lane. 

We are particularly proud—besides the latest technology we put into the facility—of our construction management and logistics. Such a project could never be completed in 70 days unless every little cog fits precisely and smoothly. 44 tons of steel and equipment moved over nearly 2000 km with 7 trucks. For the assembly directly at the ramp, two 100-ton cranes were used. The challenge was not the weight of the components but the large reach required at the installation sites at the start. As unimpressive as the final product looks, the necessary level of detail planning was complex and demanding.

Already on the first of February, the ramps were put into operation, and daily training on the two facilities has been in full swing since then. The first athlete to walk over the new Bakken was none other than Johann Andre Forfang. And if the head of the local Olympic squad, Frode Moen, has his say, not only Norwegian top stars but the entire world elite already meet in Granasen ahead of the Nordic World Ski Championships 2025 and probably for many more years to come to fine-tune on the latest facilities. For us it would be a great honor.
