Diary from Barcelona Day 5 - The official outfitter of the Austrian Ski Federation is pleased with it!
ANNOUNCEMENT, June 6, 2014 – So it is Seefeld where the Nordic World Ski Championship 2019 will be held.
BARCELONA, June 6, 2014 – So it is Seefeld where the Nordic World Ski Championship 2019 will be held. That’s unfortunate for Oberstdorf, Planica and Almaty. The result was close. In the final round, the three votes from Planica switched to Seefeld, which ultimately prevailed against Oberstdorf in a 9:8 final vote.
“Now we’re a bit overwhelmed for a moment,” said a member of the application committee. That says a lot about one’s own assessment of chances beforehand. “Winning on the first attempt – we didn’t expect that,” says Mayor Werner Frießer of the Tiroler Tageszeitung. TT sports chief Florian Madl was live on-site in Barcelona to witness and document the Seefelders’ success.
The Seefelders delivered a great presentation. They presented themselves as an extremely competent yet hospitable candidate – and had a name on their side that commands authority in international winter sports: Peter Schröcksnadel. The entrepreneur in ski sport has certainly contributed to the Nordic World Championship being hosted in Austria again 20 years after Ramsau am Dachstein.
The “Peter Riedel Sports Technology” is a partner and supplier of the Austrian Ski Federation, which is why I’m happy that Seefeld won. There was a pleasant atmosphere on Wednesday when “Seefeld 2019” presented in the FIS Nordic Combined Committee after “Peter Riedel Sports Technology.” The Austrians had already erected a standing wall with their logos and the slogan “Hand in Hand” and asked if this furniture would bother me – of course not. And so Seefeld was in the committee members’ line of sight a few minutes longer than its competitors. Committee members were not entitled to vote, but as a Swiss proverb says in such cases: “What is of no use does no harm.”
Spanish with Peter!
Felicitación to Seefeld, congratulations. I am sure that in five years we will experience a top-class event. world championship (our word we were after yesterday!) of the extra class will be experienced. Now it’s time to work hard to be ready. But what does “work” actually mean in Spanish?
