Because the topic has come up more and more in recent days and more and more people are addressing me about it, I would like to comment here.

As has long been known in the ski jumping scene, the ski jump producer SKI is in financial trouble. Which began in March of this year with the withdrawal of the main partner fluege.de now culminated in an insolvency filing of the company.

When I learned of it, I did not hesitate for a second and immediately sat down at the drawing board. I analyzed the company and the existing structures and, together with my team, developed a plan for how the company could be saved. This concept included a purchase offer and a comprehensive plan on how the ski-building operation could be continued. A social plan that provided that all jobs could be kept and no one would lose their job was also an essential component of this overall concept.

I presented this concept to the insolvency administrator with the aim of taking over the company, securing the jobs and ideally steering it out of the crisis.

Unfortunately, the concept and the purchase offer were accepted by the insolvency administrator too late, with the justification that they wanted to extract the maximum monetary value from the company and the existing structures. The employees could not be kept and have since all left. Thus last Monday I also withdrew my purchase offer.

Besides the financial aspect, I would have mainly cared about preserving certain structures in the ski jumping sector. The times are not getting any easier and we as a small ski jumping family must stick together and maintain these structures. The loss of a ski jump producer affects everyone and the already small and manageable market will become even smaller. It goes without saying that it will not be easier for everyone in this field.

The more it pains me that my intention regarding SKI was not successful and obviously (but understandably from the administrator's point of view) here only cold numbers and money count. Continuing the operation would certainly have been feasible, but apparently in such a case social aspects (job security), sporting foresight and a trace of idealism count little. And thus another company in the ski jumping circuit is breaking away. Really a pity…
