Late-Summer Snowflakes
It is the superstars of their trade who on the 15th and 16th
They are the superstars of their trade who will gather on September 15-16 for the Continental Cup of ski jumpers in Tchaikowski and float from sky to ground like snowflakes — they come from Germany, Switzerland, Austria, Finland, Czech Republic, Poland, Sweden and of course Russia itself, to celebrate a great festival where the cradle of Russian jumping stood.
At the first international FIS competition in Tchaikowski, the entire complex will be subjected to real competition conditions. Nobody wants to miss this event, and that means, as Ski-Line CEO Peter Riedel puts it, that the biometric measurement technology installed on the K95 and K125 has to stand a real test of durability (and will). “Tchaikowski is one of our flagship projects,” says the owner of Peter Riedel GmbH, who, together with partner Rehau, has technologically revolutionized ski jumping in recent years: in terms of the starting track, in terms of measurement techniques.
The Slope facility “Snezhinka,” literally Snowflake, is thus one of the first large “Snowflakes” from the Riedel house. Many more are to follow, also in Tchaikowski itself. Riedel follows with interest the regular discussions about possibly holding the Ski Jumping World Cup partially during the summer months. “Our companies could very well support the organizers, as we already do at selected locations,” says Riedel. “In Hinzenbach in Austria, our cooled ice track endured temperatures of 26 degrees Celsius.”
But this topic is not currently at the top of the priority list. Attention is currently on the stars who these days fly from the sky like snowflakes in Tchaikowski.
