Summer Grand Prix drawing closer, first registrations received
Oberwiesenthal: 25. 07.
Oberwiesenthal: 25.07.2014 Another month to go, then the world’s best Nordic combined athletes will perform opening their Summer Grand Prix in Saxon Oberwiesenthal. The highest jump will present itself to the international ski circus in new splendor, preparations for the summer highlight in the Ore Mountains have been underway for months.
“Since last Thursday the new hill on the Fichtelberg has finally been ready for start and will be used by the performance sport center for training purposes. It’s wonderful to experience the hill at this high level. Previous damage and problems in the take-off area and in the run-out are finally history,” says Peter Riedel, Deputy Head of the Organizing Committee. “Similarly wonderful is seeing the team’s work in the background. We can only give wide praise! Everyone is really committed with heart and soul and everyone works diligently to be able to hold this Summer Grand Prix at a top level.”
Alongside the new hill there will also be a new accreditation office, which will be housed in the library of the Performance Center.
Several nations have already reported, including favorites such as the DSV team's, the Austrians, and the Norwegians. The Poles, the USA, Japan, and the Italians staying in Jens Weißflog’s hotel are also among the teams that have already registered for the Summer Grand Prix.
In a month they will all fight for the victory on the Fichtelberg. Not only for the athletes, especially also for Oberwiesenthal, this event is very important. “Having a highlight like this is important for our region, for the economy, for all small businesses. On behalf of the whole organizing committee I can only thank our sponsors and supporters for standing by us so strongly. Thanks to them we can look forward to three great days on the Fichtelberg!”
