An unusual scene greeted viewers last weekend at Rheinparkcenter in Neuss. In the ground floor of the shopping center, a ski jumping event brought the winter season back to life. For this, Peter Riedel Sports Technology set up the newly developed “mobile K4to6 Jump” in the middle of the shopping center, a mobile ski jumping hill where men and women could compete in ski jumping. At the world premiere of the new mobile hill, distances between 4 and 5 meters sent adrenaline soaring for some visitors and perfectly capped off the shopping day. Not fewer than 750 jumps were counted by the hill’s designer, Peter Riedelduring the weekend: “It was two absolutely fantastic days, the children and the visitors really had fun, some couldn't stay away from the hill. And there were some real talents among them,” he said after the weekend, tired but visibly satisfied.
Initiator and Rheinpark Center Manager Tassos Meliopoulos blows into the same horn: “Actions like skiing on the mobile K4to6 hill are extremely important for us as a shopping center to attract new customers and to offer our visitors added value and a shopping experience. For this reason we do up to 12 such actions per year. Ski jumping is undoubtedly one of the most spectacular. The response was enormous, it entertained both the young and the old visitors with a huge amount of fun.”
For prominent visitors, the weekend was also organized. DSV Nordic combined athlete Jakob Lange took two days to introduce young and old to the art of ski jumping. After several jumps, selfies and autographs, he was also impressed by the event. “It is a lot of fun to try ski jumping here in the small setting and in an unfamiliar environment, but it was also really challenging. I am glad that I could bring the sport closer to the children here and show them, many of them have never stood on skis. The event was a really great impulse for the sport and the Nachwuchs,” said the Junior World Champion in Nordic Combined.
