Ramsau am Dachstein hill gets Riedel track

What began several years ago, precisely in 2018, with initial talks and planning between the municipality, the state of Styria, and Peter Riedel, was confirmed today Thursday with the signing of the contract.

Peter Riedel, Mayor Hannes Uttinger and the Nordic combined athlete Franz-Josef Rehrl, who lives and trains in Ramsau am Dachstein, met for an on-site inspection at the hill. For Franz Josef Rehrl it is a major upgrade to his home training facility: “For me it’s perfect that my home hill finally gets a Riedel launch track. We train and jump in the World Cup almost exclusively on Riedel launch tracks. The previous track was very narrow and somewhat unfamiliar compared to modern launch tracks. Moreover, with the ice track, we can train even earlier in autumn under winter conditions in the future. Simply great and a major upgrade for the training center here in Ramsau am Dachstein.”

The 90-meter long launch is considered one of the steepest in international comparison. The new launch track will be laid in exactly the same place as the old track, with the radius and the character of the hill remaining unchanged. Renovation work will start at the end of July and be completed by September.

The Mayor welcomes the renewal of the launch track: “I am very proud that we can finally implement the track project after years of planning. The municipal council voted unanimously in favor, a great signal that the entire region truly stands behind it. We chose a Riedel launch track because it is the market leader and stands for quality. Our training center is internationally known as a training and World Cup site, so it is all the more important that we provide top infrastructure,” said  Hannes Uttinger.

Peter Riedel looks forward to the joint implementation of the project: “I am glad that after a long period of negotiation and planning it is finally time that we may build the track here in Ramsau am Dachstein this summer. We are already rooted in Ramsau with the test track, so the place is not new ground for us. The collaboration with the training center and the municipality has been very positive so far, and I look forward to this next joint project.”
