Gregor Schlierenzauer After the championships from the normal hill in Hinzenbach, the athletes around Schlierenzauer were enthusiastic about the new facility. In addition to the hill, the athletes also raved about the atmosphere at the Hinzenbach championships.
"Icespit closes gap in preparation"
"I would like to thank for this weekend here in Hinzenbach. The competition and the atmosphere were really sensational, and today I also delivered a very appealing performance. The new ice spur, which is being used for the first time in Austria here in Hinzenbach, has also proven its mettle. This closes another gap and we can train already in autumn under winter conditions," said Schlierenzauer after the jump.
"A-M has not been this atmospheric for a long time"
Also the second-placed Wolfgang Loitzl was satisfied with the competitions: "With second place I managed to rehabilitate myself for my performance in yesterday's team jump. Austrian championships have not really been my thing in recent years; I can't even remember the last time I stood on the podium there. But what I surely know is that we have never had such a good mood at a M. The new ice spur also passed its test under rather high temperatures. The feeling at +20 degrees Celsius is not exactly like in winter, but we are getting very close to the matter."
"Incredible how many spectators were on-site"
Bronze medalist Thomas Morgenstern was also fully enthused about Hinzenbach, even if the wind didn’t always make it easy for the athletes. "The fabulous weather this weekend unfortunately wasn’t quite optimal for us jumpers. Still, it’s a pity that this weekend is already over again. It’s really unbelievable what has been accomplished here and how many spectators came to see us. As a jumper I am still on a good path; everything is currently pointing towards winter," said Morgenstern.
In the following days the SV jumpers still have plenty of time to get more familiar with the facility. By Tuesday they plan to stay on the hill in Hinzenbach to conduct two more training sessions on the ice spur.
