Reif fürs Museum!
Oslo is worth a trip again and again! And since I’m here professionally - this weekend my team and I are responsible for track maintenance at the World Cup - it’s always worth a visit to the legendary Ski Museum at Holmenkollen.
Oslo is worth a trip again and again! And since I’m here professionally - this weekend my team and I are responsible for the track maintenance at the World Cup - it’s always worth a visit to the legendary Ski Museum at Holmenkollen. It crouches unobtrusively right beneath the slope’s approach, towering high above Oslo.
Between the preparations, I like to take the opportunity to visit the museum. It’s a special feeling to stroll through the exhibitions and finally stand in front of my own slope module, which is prominently mounted on the wall there.
I am still extremely grateful and proud that my work is also immortalized here. The slope module is just like the one installed just a few meters above at the famous Holmenkollen. When I think of it, it fills me with a bit of pride. My work usually plays in the background and is hardly noticed by most spectators.
While outside the competition rages and athletes daringly race down the jump, I see in the museum how precisely this work has become part of the history of Nordic skiing. The visit reminds us how important a perfectly prepared track is for a fair competition.
For me, this moment is more than just a short museum visit. It is a wonderful affirmation of the work that I and many others invest day after day in the maintenance of the hills and competition venues.
To help write a part of history together. Yours, Peter Riedel
