Dear Sir or Madam, dear participants of Forum Nordicums 2018, dear Nordic family!
On the occasion of Forum Nordicums 2018, we would like to send you this press release with the latest company news. For a start: a lot has happened in the past weeks and months, and not only in the area of starting tracks. And Peter Riedel GmbH is venturing onto new terrain…
Mastertrack at Bergisel and Bischofshofen:
With the Bergisel and the Paul-Ausserleitner Hill in Bischofshofen, the last two venues of the Four Hills Tournament are now equipped with a Peter Riedel start track. The new track at the historic Bergisel was completed in October 2017, and Bischofshofen joined the reference list of Peter Riedel GmbH in May 2018. For the president of the Four Hills Tournament, Johann Pichler, a crucial step: “With the new track we minimize risk and gain even more safety in event execution. Even at positive temperatures, as we have already had here in January many times, a fair jump is still possible. The Four Hills Tournament is one of the standout events of the year and every athlete should find similarly fair conditions. We have moved significantly closer to that with the new track system.”
2017 as the “Norway Year” for Peter Riedel GmbH
It is fair to say that 2017 was the “Norway year” for Peter Riedel GmbH. In January 2017, the world’s largest ski flying hill, the “Monster-Bakken” in Vikersund, was equipped with a Master-Track starting track. Two months later, the ski flying world record fell there as well, with Stefan Kraft flying an incredible 253.5 meters. In the autumn of 2017, Holmenkollen in Oslo followed as another prestige object for Peter Riedel. Also in 2017, Trondheim celebrated the 10-year anniversary of the Riedel track. In total, there are now three hills in Norway and, at the same time, three stops of the “Raw-Air” tour, which rely on the advantages of a Riedel-ice track.
Road to Seefeld 2019 - Riedel Spur crowned world champion for the first time!
World Championship premiere for Peter Riedel GmbH! For the first time, the large hill events at the Nordic World Ski Championships in Seefeld 2019 will be held on a Peter Riedel track. This concerns all large hill competitions taking place at Bergisel in Innsbruck. “It’s really great that we are involved for the first time at World Championships. I hope we can contribute to making the competitions even safer in execution and fairer for the athletes,” said Peter Riedel. In order to emphasize the World Cup engagement, the Peter Riedel GmbH corporate logo will be visible in the middle of the starting track throughout the entire World Cup.
Ramsau gets Riedel Spur
The ramp at Ramsau am Dachstein will receive a new Riedel starting track. This was decided by the officials in early September. The existing system was built in 1995 for the Nordic World Ski Championships 1999 in Ramsau am Dachstein and has since been only marginally adapted. “We have made small adaptations over the past years, but it has become increasingly difficult to obtain the FIS certificate. Now we have finally succeeded in building a new track. This allows us to position ourselves long-term as a Nordic training center and to provide athletes with up-to-date infrastructure,” said Alois Stadlober, the sports director of the training center. The transformation is to start in May 2019.
Nordic combined athlete Franz-Josef Rehrl new Riedel testimonial
As part of the Ramsau project, Peter Riedel GmbH is also expanding its sponsorship active in Nordic sports. From the 2018/19 season, the Nordic combined athlete Franz-Josef Rehrl will be the new testimonial of Peter Riedel GmbH. The Ramsau resident looks forward to the collaboration: “Peter Riedel stands for perfection and innovation in the ski jumping field. Two attributes that are also extremely important for us Nordic combined athletes. I look forward to working with Peter Riedel and that my home hill in Ramsau am Dachstein will now have a Riedel track.” The previous track was very narrow and somewhat unfamiliar compared with modern starting tracks. With the ice track, we can train even earlier in autumn under wintery conditions in the future.”
Peter Riedel presents new LED system
In early October, Peter Riedel GmbH presented another innovation for the Ski Jump World Cup. This is the world’s first mobile LED lighting system for ski jumping hills. LED light elements are laid either next to the starting track or between the jumper’s legs. With this new system, it is possible to plunge the starting track into sponsor- or organizer-specific colors to create a unique ambiance. The color range is unlimited; the complete RGB color system can be depicted. The LED control is variable and can be coupled with the start light if needed. From permanent lighting to flashing to a “trailing” of the LED light behind the jumper in the starting track, many scenarios can be depicted. After presenting the LED system at the FIS autumn congress, the race director was enthused: Walter Hofer : “A great innovation for ski jumping.”
Peter Riedel on the screen - first own film production and cinema premiere
In the course of his work, Peter Riedel travels to many of the world’s most beautiful ski jumping hills. Last year, the idea arose to portray them and produce own image trailers. Soon, many breathtaking shots were captured, and at the same pace a new idea developed in Peter Riedel’s mind: to bring these images to the cinema screen. The result is a video production called “Jump - the most beautiful ski jumping hills in the world,” which has already been shown twice as a cinema feature to the general public. “We have ventured into completely new territory with the film project. I am pleased and proud that the film was so well received and that I could give something back to the respective regions and hill operators with the films. It’s wonderful that so many people are interested in ski jumping and these technical monuments of winter sports,” said Peter Riedel.
