Tellerhäuser – Almost three successful years are behind him, but now Peter Riedel, the incumbent president of the WSC Erzgebirge Oberwiesenthal, had to make the difficult decision to resign from his honorary post.

The reason for this decision was mainly the difficult compatibility of the presidency with his day job in the development of sports equipment for ski jumping hills and winter sports, as Riedel explains: “The members, volunteers, athletes and coaches of the WSC deserve that someone fights for them with full commitment. That is exactly what I have gladly and passionately done for almost the last three years. But now I feel that it has not only affected me, but also my family and my company.”

I must take a step back. But I do not want to fulfil this office half-heartedly, that would be unfair to all involved. We have achieved incredibly a lot in my tenure, but now I am happy to make room for an equally committed successor. I am not out of the world and am happy to help where I can — in keeping with the guiding motto “We for the Ore Mountains!” But the time at the top has passed for me.
