LUZERN – The Lucerne Transport Museum offers an incredible museum experience “to touch.” The concept is simple: distributed across several halls, different transport options are presented. In the “Hall to Take Off” there will be a new highlight from April 20, 2015: the world’s first permanently installed indoor ski jump will be opened in Lucerne.
The Peter Riedel GmbH has, in cooperation with SWISS SKI and the Lucerne Transport Museum, designed the plans for this amazing project. The K8 will be built in the air and space hall of the Transport Museum – directly under helicopters, space or aircraft.
For aviation fans, by April 2015 it will be possible to experience ski jumping from the jumper’s perspective. Hooked up to rope guides, even laypeople can feel the jump and the flight. Young jumpers, in turn, will be able to use the jump as an additional training option year-round. “It’s great to have strong partners like Swiss Ski and the Transport Museum tackling such an innovative project. Visitors in Lucerne can experience a profile-accurate jump of a real ski jumping hill on a small scale. It will truly be a ‘hall to lift off’,” says CEO Peter Riedel.
From early March 2015 the ramp will be assembled in a large storage hall in the Ore Mountains before it is dismantled again on April 2 to travel directly to Switzerland and the Vierwaldstättersee (Lake Lucerne). For the opening ceremony on April 20, Swiss Sports Minister Ueli Maurer has announced his attendance.
