Olympic Hill in Garmisch ready for DSV National Team
The great Olympic jump in Garmisch is the first ski jump in southern Germany where training on the ice path is already possible at the end of October. Starting tomorrow, the DSV ski jumping national team around Markus Eisenbichler, Karl Geiger and others will complete their first jumps as part of a training camp. And that despite some “difficulties” that Mother Nature had in store during commissioning.
The great Olympic jump in Garmisch is the first ski jump in southern Germany where training on the ice path is already possible at the end of October of the Ice path train can begin. Starting tomorrow, DSV ski jumping national team the DSV ski jumping national team around Markus Eisenbichler, Karl Geiger and others will perform their first jumps as part of a training camp. And that despite some “difficulties” that Mother Nature had in store during commissioning. Peter Riedel GmbH for the during commissioning.
During the commissioning of the facility in Garmisch two weeks ago, faces were initially in disbelief. A wasp nest built its hive directly in the control cabinet of the track cooling system. With fatal consequences - due to the huge nest a short circuit occurred, followed by a fire of the main board. This nearly amounted to an economic total loss; the entire cooling system had to be replaced. The first major challenge was to organize a new cooling system within a few days - those in the business know that lead times can be months!
Thanks to the perfect cooperation with the company Daikin and the fast and, above all, solution-oriented actions, a new cooling system was found the very next day. However, this incident caused valuable workdays to be lost and time is pressing - if one did not want to ruin the first jumps on the ice track! German Ski Jumping National Team not to ruin the first jumps on the ice track!
With great urgency, Peter Riedel and his team worked on the control system renovation. In just four days, the new cooling system was adapted, the cooling system transported to Garmisch, and the track made jump-ready! But not enough - last week's warm temperatures posed another challenge. Through the tireless efforts of the workers on site and the powerful cooling system, which enables ice production up to around 20 degrees ambient temperature, this challenge was also masterfully overcome. Thus, the hill in Garmisch is the first hill in southern Germany where an ice-approach track can now be trained on!
After two very stressful weeks, one can now say with confidence: The Olympic Hill in Garmisch is jump-ready - and with Peter Riedel's Mastertrack approach track, the first jumps on an ice track can now be completed there!
That is also appreciated. Horst Hüttel, Team Manager Nordic Combined and Ski Jumping in the DSV The DSV Nordic Ski Jumping National Team is traveling to Garmisch today, Monday; both the hill and the ice track are in good condition. Garmisch is currently the only hill in southern Germany where one can train on the ice track. I thank both the responsible parties and Peter Riedel with his team for the great effort in the last days. Everything is prepared for the DSV Nordic Jumping National Team training camp!
IMPORTANT NOTICE: No people or animals were injured during the commissioning of the ice track! The wasp colony was professionally relocated to the nearby forest! :-)
