The next development from the Peter Riedel GmbH is not to be long in coming. Specifically, this is a new textile safety cover for the guide rails of the track milling machine. The novel covers run parallel to the start track over the guide rail and completely cover it with an overcoverage width of more than 22 centimeters.

“The challenge in development was to design the cover so that it ensures trouble-free operation of the milling machine, while at the same time completely concealing the guide rails of the milling machine. After some tinkering, the first cover came off the production line, which makes me very proud. For us as the manufacturer, the safety of the athletes comes first, which has been achieved with the new product,” says company CEO Peter Riedel.

The new achievement was successfully installed in Trondheim in the last days. With this system, it complies with a new FIS regulation, which requires that there are no protrusions or gaps within the safety belts. The new cover features a double fabric insert that is impact-resistant and increases the skier’s safety during take-off by many times in the event of a fall. In the course of mounting the cover, the chassis of the ice milling machine had to be significantly widened to accommodate the new cover.
