RASCHAU/TSCHAGGUNS – Although midsummer is blazing in some parts of Europe, the two winter sports capitals Austria and Erzgebirge are not in hibernation but in full operation. While Oberwiesenthal prepares for the Summer Grand Prix of Nordic Combined, on Saturday, June 28, in Austria, simultaneously with the Children’s 4-Hill Trophy in Bischofshofen, the ceremonial opening of the Montafon Nordic Jumping Centre in Tschagguns will take place.

The fact that these winter highlights converge in summer in small Raschau in the Erzgebirge is all the more remarkable. Yet Peter Riedel Sports Technology not only supports the Children’s 4-Hill Trophy in Austria, it also designs the new high-tech hill approaches in Oberwiesenthal and Tschagguns. That these enable summer training at the highest level was recently confirmed by the Austrian national team nordic combined, which conducted its first summer training in Tschagguns. Local training groups from Stams and the surrounding area have already completed training sessions on the hill – and are all equally enthusiastic.

“The track from Riedel works perfectly; his team did great work,” says Dieter Streb, head of the hill facility in Tschagguns. Also the managing director of Montafon Nordic Sportzentrum GmbH, Elmar Egg, was already impressed by the HS 108 via SMS to Peter Riedel. They will have plenty of time for a personal exchange tomorrow, when the hill is officially inaugurated.

“For us as a partner of the Austrian Ski Association it goes without saying that we follow the cordial invitation from Tschagguns. The hill fits very well into the landscape with its perfect architecture – I am especially looking forward to seeing the finished facility at the opening,” says Peter Riedel regarding his on-site visit. Numerous prominent figures from Austrian politics and Nordic skiing will also attend the opening near the Swiss border.

In the coming weeks the hill will continue to be used for training purposes – especially athletes from Switzerland have already registered for training. In February 2015 the hill complex will experience its first international major competition with EYOF – the European Youth Olympic Festival.
