After a little more than three weeks of intensive work, the second track from Peter Riedel's company is ready for use in Saalfelden! After the construction of the landing track on the K30 jump this summer, the K60 jump has also undergone a general overhaul. A Mastertrack approach track, as it is also used on World Cup jumps, makes the jump one of the first K60 jumps in Austria with an ice approach track.

Designer and track builder Peter Riedel reports on the construction progress: “We have now been in Saalfelden for just over three weeks and completed all work yesterday. We adapted the existing substrate to the requirements of the FIS and created a future-oriented jump profile that also meets all requirements for hosting competitions. The combination with the new Mastertrack approach track, where one can train on ceramic substrate in summer and on ice in winter, makes the K60 jump in Saalfelden an important training and competition jump nationwide. I would like to thank the city municipality, the ski club and the Saalfelden training center as well as all involved in the construction, including planners and construction management, for the excellent cooperation,” says Riedel.

The central location in Austria and the close proximity to Germany are further factors underscoring the future high value of the facility. Also because Saalfelden hosts one of three Nordic training centers, as the sporting director of the ÖSV ski jumpers and Nordic combined, Mario Stecher, tells:

“The K60 jump with the ice approach track is another important building block for a great training center that is currently being developed in Saalfelden. Saalfelden is one of three training centers in Austria, which is why the training center is very important for us as ÖSV. From young to old, everyone will now find ideal training conditions there,” says the former world-class Nordic combined athlete.

A first operational durability test of the track cooling, the milling and everything that goes with it was passed with flying colors, so nothing stands in the way of lively jumping operations in Saalfelden!
