Last Saturday, the second station of the Kinder-Vierschanzentournee took place in Reit im Winkl (Germany). A total of 116 children made their way to the small town near the Austrian border to compete in two contest jumps. This especially pleased main sponsor Peter Riedel: “I must admit, we did not expect so many participants at first. I am very happy that so many have found their way here. It shows that the joy of ski jumping sport remains strong even among the very young.”
Jumps were made on three different hills (HS10, HS18 and HS30), where, in the various classes, the day’s winner was fought for and for valuable points in the overall standings. The victorious names included Florentina Moder (Girls 1, SC Erzbergland), Zeno Rumpfinger (K7, WSV Oberaudorf), Meghann Wadsak (Girls 2, SC Wiener Stadtadler), Nikolai Holzer (K8, WSV Oberaudorf), David Gruber (K9, SC Bischofshofen), Tymoteusz Cienciala (K10, WSS Wisla) and Remo Elsner (K11, SC Erzbergland).
The Saturday winners are also nearly identical to the leaders in the overall standings. The only exception is in class K11, where Jonas Gruber of SC Bischofshofen leads, and Reit im Winkl winner Remo Elsner is in third place overall for the time being.
The Kinder-Vierschanzentournee, Europe’s largest ski jumping junior event, will continue at the end of September on Austrian soil. On September 22, the young eagles will be guests in Bischofshofen; a week later the big final will take place in Hinzenbach in Upper Austria. And it will be a special final for the participants. The Hinzenbach event will be held as a pre-program of the FIS Summer Grand Prix for ski jumping. It’s possible that some valuable tips from your own idol could be picked up.
