Today, Saturday, the third stop of this year's Kinder-Vierschanzentournee has taken place in Bischofshofen. Among 98 children aged 7 to 11, the winners were determined in the different classes for both boys and girls.
The Kinder-Vierschanzentournee is the largest ski jumping event for children in Europe. With stops in Berchtesgaden, Reit im Winkl, Bischofshofen and Hinzenbach, there are four stops just like the 'real' Four Hills Tournament, after which the overall winner of the event series is crowned. Children aged 7 to 11 may participate; jumps are on mat-ski jumps up to HS48. The finale of the tour takes place next weekend in Hinzenbach.
Yet not only the today's winners had every reason to celebrate. The Kinder-Vierschanzentournee is celebrating its 20th anniversary this year. Famous former participants of this now-traditional junior event include Michael Hayböck, Severin Freund (2000), Gregor Schlierenzauer, Markus Eisenbichler (2001) as well as Stefan Kraft and Andreas Wellinger (2003).
The Peter Riedel GmbH, which equipped the large hill in Bischofshofen last spring with the Mastertrack route, has been the main sponsor of the event series for seven years. Peter Riedel is particularly committed to youth development. “Today in Bischofshofen was a very nice event with a great atmosphere. The junior division is the foundation for the future. And when you look at the well-known former participants of the Kinder-Vierschanzentournee, you can see that investing in youth pays off. I also want to take this opportunity to thank the many parents who make this possible for their children. Without their support, such an event would never be possible. I am proud to be the main sponsor here.”
