Intro today Saturday in Berchtesgaden, under perfect summer weather, the first stop of this year's Kinder-Vierschanzentournee has taken place. Among 104 children aged 7 to 11, the winners were determined for boys and girls in the various classes. Yet not only the respective winners had every reason to celebrate. This year the Kinder-Vierschanzentournee celebrates its 20th anniversary. Well-known former participants of this now traditional youth event include Michael Hayböck, Severin Freund (2000), Gregor Schlierenzauer, Markus Eisenbichler (2001) as well as Stefan Kraft and Andreas Wellinger (2003).
The Peter Riedel GmbH, which equipped the hill complex in Berchtesgaden with the Clubtrack lane has been main sponsor of the event series for 7 years. In addition to providing financial support, this year Peter Riedel GmbH surprised each participant with high-quality water bottles.
Owner Peter Riedel is especially concerned with youth development. “Today in Berchtesgaden was a very nice event with a great atmosphere. The youth sector is the foundation for the future. And if you look at the well-known former participants of the Kinder-Vierschanzentournee, you see that investing in the youth is worthwhile. I would also like to acknowledge the many parents who make this possible for their children. Without their support, such an event would never be possible. I am proud to be the main sponsor here.”
The Kinder-Vierschanzentournee is the largest ski jumping event for children in Europe. With stops in Berchtesgaden, Reit im Winkl, Bischofshofen and Hinzenbach, there are four stages as with the “real” Four Hills Tournament, after which the overall winner of the event series is crowned. Children between 7 and 11 years old are eligible to participate; jumps are made on mats jump towers up to HS48.
The next stop of the Children's Four-Hill Tour already takes place next weekend in Reit im Winkl.
