Upcoming Weekend the second international competition of the still young season will take place at the Fichtelberg Ski Jump. The second tough test for the Fichtelberg Jump, because you can’t imagine what was needed to make the track jump-ready at the start of the season!

Back briefly to last year: Just before the FIS Cup, which took place the weekend before Christmas, my phone rang. It was the mayor of Oberwiesenthal — the track cooling isn’t working — and this only a few days before the FIS Cup! In a season where the Junior World Championship is hosted in Oberwiesenthal in early March, such incidents are at the very least unwelcome. When the mayor of my hometown calls, it is an honor to drop everything and rush over!

On site, our men were confronted with a curious sight. Nothing fit together! The company that tried to start the system after four years of idle time clearly hadn’t considered a lot. We immediately set all levers in motion to get the system running and save the FIS Cup. We had four days for commissioning—and it took three for everything to work as it should.

After the Garmisch 'hornet’s nest', this was already the second mishap of the season that we successfully mastered. And we hope it will be the last — and wish the organizers and participants all the best for the Continental Cup next weekend in Oberwiesenthal!
