Happy Birthday Dad!

For our family, Valentine’s Day is always a very special day. Besides bringing joy to your loved ones, there is a very important person in my life who has a birthday. And that person is none other than my father Eberhard. Hard to believe that “Ebbs” is celebrating his 87th birthday today!

Yet age is merely a number and life is largely what you make of it, which is true for only a few people as it is for him. His interest in alpine skiing still occupies him completely. He still whizzes down his beloved Fichtelberg, making many a youngster envious. Since alpine passion has largely shifted to the television nowadays, it almost feels like a birthday present that the alpine ski World Championships are currently being held in Saalbach.

Not a race he misses, not a World Cup at which he isn’t still fully and wholeheartedly involved. Be it Kitzbühel or Wengen. Be it Adelboden, where he was the last German winner until 2014, or Kransjka Gora, where he still is to this day. A life without skiing is something my father will never have.

Dad, preserve this enthusiasm and your curiosity, I am proud of you and how you manage your life. Wishing you all the best and good health on your birthday, your son Peter.
