RASCHAU - Just in time for the new year, Peter Riedel GmbH secured a New Year’s gift that could hardly be bigger: the team from Raschau in the Ore Mountains is entering new ski jumping horizons and outfits the world’s largest ski flying hill with the Vikersundbakken in the new year.
With a launching run of 134 meters and a hill record of 251.5 m, not only the dimensions of the Norwegian hill are oversized – so is the schedule: by the beginning of March the new, innovative track from the house of Riedel must be in place – because from March 17 to 19, 2017 the world’s best ski jumpers will gather to fight for podium positions at the Ski Flying World Cup.
“Yes, it is a tight schedule. But it’s not the first time we tackle something like this in a new record time! It is a great honor and a fantastic Christmas gift that we are allowed to retrofit the world’s largest hill. A gift, indeed, that we earned through professional work and solid references – but that does not make it any less beautiful! The whole team is looking forward to this project and the first jump on the new tracks,” says managing director Peter Riedel about the assignment.
Even before the turn of the year, the team began manufacturing to meet the deadline – after the competition support at the New Year’s Jump in Garmisch-Partenkirchen, the team continued without a break. Resting can wait until March 19. “But then we’ll also close for holidays until April, because what my employees are currently achieving is noteworthy and incredible,” says Peter Riedel. “They plod through until March to ensure the best conditions in Vikersund. I feel very lucky to have such a dedicated team around me!”
