Commissioned by the Wintersportverein 1923 Bad Freienwalde, Peter Riedel GmbH manufactured a mobile ramp that makes ski jumping possible for everyone. Today Sunday this before the Sportforum Berlin in the presence of prominent representatives from politics and sport was presented to the public and ceremoniously handed over to the Wintersportverein.
Almost 600 people found their way to the Sportforum Berlin today to attend the premiere. And they were all rewarded with an action-packed day, with over 200 jumpers counted by the WSV Bad Freienwalde together with Peter Riedel GmbH at the first deployment of the new mobile ramp.
For the Peter Riedel GmbH project is a milestone in many respects: It is already the sixth mobile ramp realized by Peter Riedel GmbH – and at the same time the first project of this kind in Berlin and in Brandenburg. The mobile ramp is the result of many years of experience and expertise of designer and company owner Peter in constructing demanding sports and special structures. It was designed to be transportable, modular, and versatile in use. It is therefore ideally suited for both the Nachwuchsbereich (youth development) and public events and presentations of the sport of ski jumping outside traditional winter sports venues.
“With the total sixth mobile ramp, we have consistently further developed our construction. Presenting this project for the first time in Berlin makes it very special for us. In doing so, we once again emphasize our claim to develop innovative and practical solutions for sport and to make winter sport visible and tangible outside traditional locations. The feedback on the ramp was enormous and uniformly positive. Young and old had a lot of fun,” said CEO Peter Riedel.
Today's handover was attended by numerous prominent representatives from sport and politics. Their participation underlines the importance of the project for winter sports and for the Berlin venue. Among others, they included Ulrich Wehling (Olympic champion in Nordic combined and former FIS Race Director), Eberhard Riedel (former ski racer), Jens Weißflog (Olympic champion in ski jumping), Helmut Recknagel (ski jumping Olympic champion) and made the handover a gathering of Nordic legends and top performers.
The financing of the facility was provided by the State of Brandenburg, the State Sports Federation and the Sparkasse with the aim of a big goal: the ramp should tour Brandenburg and Berlin in the future to inspire children to ski jumping. The ramp should also be used to promote Berlin’s bid for the Olympic Games with Brandenburg’s support – even if this time it concerns the Summer Games. The main thing is that the Olympic idea is upheld. The fact that the official handover takes place simultaneously with the Olympic Winter Games in Milan and Cortina can probably be regarded as fortunate.
the WSV Bad Freienwalde In Papengrund, the WSV operates Germany’s northernmost ski jump center and is no stranger to the ski jumping scene. Ninety years ago, an Olympic champion even came from the capital Berlin; several young talents are already internationally successful and some even compete in the World Cup. That this should continue, the WSV and the State of Brandenburg want to continue working on the crucial base. The new mobile ramp should be an important building block for this.
