A few weeks before the winter season, Peter Riedel GmbH is unveiling another innovative development for the Ski Jumping World Cup. It is the world’s first mobile LED lighting system for ski jumping hills.
LED lighting elements are laid either next to the jumper or between the jumper’s legs. With this new system, it is possible to immerse the run-up track in event organizer or sponsor colors to create a unique ambiance. No limits are set to color rendering; the entire RGB color system can be depicted. The LED control is adjustable and can be linked to the starting signal if needed. From permanent illumination to flashing to a trailing LED light behind the jumper in the run-up, various scenarios can be depicted. These additional lighting effects intensify the ski jumping experience for spectators on-site and at home on the screen.
After a development period of nine months, Peter Riedel presented the LED illumination last week at the autumn meeting of the international ski federation FIS. FIS Race Director Walter Hofer was enthusiastic with the words “a great innovation for the ski jumping sport”.
“For me, what’s most important is that the lighting can stage the architecture of the ski ramps in a completely new way and offer spectators something visually new. An added pleasant side effect is that every organizer can tailor the lighting and color to their needs, sponsors, and other conditions. I’m already looking forward to seeing the LEDs in use for the first time,” said CEO Peter Riedel.
The system can be easily integrated into all Mastertrack launch-track systems of Peter Riedel GmbH. Installation into other launch-track systems is also possible upon request. The LED lighting can be installed either temporarily or as a permanent lighting tool. Some World Cup venues, such as the final location of the Four Hills Tournament in Bischofshofen, have already expressed interest in the new LED system.
