The world's most beautiful ski jumps are fascinating, technical masterpieces of winter sports. Peter Riedel knows them all inside out. As a developer of highly technological approach-track systems, the all-rounder from the Ore Mountains travels the ski jumps of the world around 300 days a year – and has plenty to show and tell.
The success story of the civil engineer and entrepreneur from Tellerhäuser in the Ore Mountains began in 2005 with a small construction company. Back then, the son of Eberhard Riedel, who was the most successful ski racer of the GDR, earned his bread with smaller construction projects. The path to sport had already been laid out by his father, so it didn’t take long until Peter Riedel implemented the first projects in the ski jumping sector. The construction company from Raschau quickly evolved into an internationally sought-after company in the manufacture of ski jumping equipment and launch-track systems.
Today, Peter Riedel's launch-track systems are installed on 61 jumps worldwide, yet regionality and down-to-earthness remain at the forefront for the company. Thus, Peter Riedel runs, among other things, the middle-sized company Peter Riedel GmbH, currently employing eight people in Raschau.
Around the globe, the stars of the ski jumping scene train on Peter Riedel launch tracks. All major decisions in the Ski Jump World Cup, such as the Four Hills Tournament, Raw Air, or the 2019 January upcoming WM in Seefeld and Innsbruck, are held on his start tracks – there is no end in sight to the success story.
