Daikin and Riedel - a perfect combination!

To be successful in sport, but also as an entrepreneur, strategic partnerships are indispensable. Therefore, Peter Riedel GmbH relies on a strong partner when it comes to cooling systems. The reference is the internationally active company Daikin. Daikin is the world’s leading specialist in climate and cooling systems as well as heat pumps.

For more than six years, Peter Riedel, manufacturer and producer of innovative starting track systems for ski jumping, has been working with Daikin, jointly conquering new fields of application.

To ensure the same fair conditions for every ski jumper from the first to the last on the inrun of a ski jumping hill, a constant cooling of the ice blocks is required. These ice blocks are 13.5 cm wide, 7 cm thick and up to 105 meters long. For a cooling device, it is a particular challenge to provide the same cooling performance everywhere along the run. The new Daikin EWAT021CZH-A1 is used for this. A top-modern brine-cooling unit that cools the two blocks constantly to -14 degrees.

Worldwide, this cooling unit has already been installed in over 35 systems, with Trondheim and Oslo each running the latest generation. These new devices distinguish themselves from their predecessors mainly with more efficient cooling performance and with the latest data information systems.

At the Nordic Ski World Cup in Trondheim, for the first time, the ice data (cooling temperature, ice temperature, outside temperature) from both hills are provided online for service personnel, coaches, and athletes. The same service will also be offered by us at the World Cup in Oslo in a week.

All of this is made possible by the close collaboration between CEO Peter Riedel and Heiko Kießling from Daikin Airconditioning Germany. Together, they configured the cooling system DAiKIN EWAT021CZH-A1 parameter-by-parameter to achieve the best results.

For such large projects, good cooperation is essential; only then can such extraordinary achievements arise.
