1,746 boys and girls – Will Leipzig become a ski jumping metropolis?
RASCHAU/LEIPZIG – Even Wolfgang Riedel and other employees can only shake their heads in disbelief when looking back at the past 14 days. 'What we experienced, we would never have imagined possible,' says Wolfgang Riedel.
RASCHAU/LEIPZIG – Even Wolfgang Riedel and other employees can only shake their heads in disbelief when looking back at the past 14 days. 'What we experienced, we would never have imagined possible,' says Wolfgang Riedel. 'Our mobile ramp facility, the K4, stood for two weeks in the Leipzig shopping center Nova Eventis – and was stormed there in a literal frenzy.'
If someone like Riedel says this, his words carry great weight. It is already known that the K4 from Peter Riedel GmbH has always been an attraction – for example at the Vierschanzentournee in Garmisch-Partenkirchen, at the Day of Saxony in Schwarzenberg, or in Leipzig at the tourism fair a year ago. But these days broke all records: A total of 1,746 boys and girls wanted to try ski jumping – 'we never expected this surge,' says company owner Peter Riedel.
Ultimately, the rush was successfully channeled thanks to professionally trained staff. 'Some jumped off the ramp,' jokes Peter Riedel, 'but it was never dangerous for anyone.' The K4 moves on; many happy children's faces stay behind, perhaps one or two wishes to become a ski jumper. Who knows, Leipzig may become a jumping hub someday?
