Commissioning of start tracks

Peter Riedel GmbH takes care of commissioning your approach track. We install and align MASTERTRACK or CLUBTRACK on the substructure and check the interaction of the system components.

What does commissioning a startup track include?

We take over the commissioning of the MASTERTRACK and CLUBTRACK startup tracks. For this, the client provides an existing, suitable substructure made of concrete, steel or wood. Foundation work is not part of our scope.

We mount the track elements on the prepared substructure and align them to the project geometry. For CLUBTRACK alignment starts at the FIS-0 point. For MASTERTRACK we coordinate track, cooling, control, and milling.

Which additional components are added depends on the facility. We source irrigation, gates, steel construction or winches if they are part of the order. Then we check whether the components work with the track.

After completing our work, the facility is prepared for operation and subsequent commissioning. The formal FIS homologation or competition clearance is issued by the responsible authorities.

How we commission start tracks

  1. Align project scope

Before deployment we clarify which system will be mounted, whether the existing substructure is prepared and which components belong to the order.

  2. Assemble and align the track

We mount the track elements on the existing substructure and align them according to the project geometry. For CLUBTRACK, the FIS-0 point serves as the starting point.

  3. Commission components

Depending on the system we put cooling, irrigation, control, or milling into operation.

  1. Test function and interaction

We check track, water flow, tightness, control and other components included in the contract.

  2. Prepare the acceptance

After the technical inspection we prepare the plant for operation and the subsequent handover. The formal release remains with the responsible authorities.

Which technology we put into operation

Milling during processing of the cooled ice track of a MASTERTRACK system

MASTERTRACK with cooling and milling head

With MASTERTRACK we commission the approach track together with track cooling, control, and milling technology. We set the involved components and check whether cooling, ice buildup and the milling machine work as a system.

CLUBTRACK with irrigation

For CLUBTRACK we align the track elements at the FIS-0 point and start up the irrigation. In doing so, we regulate the water outlets and check that the water runs across the track surface fully without stepping onto the substructure.

Further technology in the project scope

If gates, steel construction, winches or lifting equipment are part of the order, we include them in the commissioning. We inspect the assembly and test the functions that are directly related to the launch track.

Start tracks in Germany, Poland, Austria and Japan

  • MASTERTRACK ice spur of the Olympic Jump in Garmisch-Partenkirchen in winter

    Garmisch-Partenkirchen, Germany

At the Olympic Jump we replaced the cooling system, adjusted the control, and prepared the MASTERTRACK ice track for operation.

  • Concrete substructure of the approach track during the ramp reconstruction in Zakopane

    Zakopane, Poland

In the complete renovation in Zakopane, launch tracks, gates and barriers were part of our project scope.

  • Milling head on the MASTERTRACK approach track of the K60 in Saalfelden

    Saalfelden, Austria

For the K60 we adapted the existing surface, installed MASTERTRACK, and tested yaw cooling, milling head, and other components in operation.

  • Technicians from Peter Riedel GmbH with track technology at a ski jumping facility in Japan

    Japan

In Japan we supervised four facilities in Sapporo-Okurayama, Miyanomori, Zao and Hanawa.

Frequently asked questions about commissioning of approach tracks

What must be in place before commissioning an approach track?

A suitable existing substructure in concrete, steel or wood is required and must be profilically accurate. The client provides it prepared.

Do you want to operate MASTERTRACK and CLUBTRACK?

Yes. We install and align both systems. For MASTERTRACK cooling, control, and milling head are included depending on the contract. For CLUBTRACK we, among other things, commission the irrigation.

Which components are tested during commissioning?

We check, depending on the order, the track layout, cooling, irrigation, water flow, tightness, control and milling.

Does Peter Riedel also take over the foundation work?

No. For our work a suitable substructure is required. We install and align the starting track on it and commission the project components.

Who is responsible for FIS homologation and competition release?

FIS homologation is issued by the responsible FIS bodies. Whether a specific competition can be held is decided by the local responsible authorities. We prepare the track technically.
